According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 264 million people around the world suffer with depression. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance System, almost 20 percent of adults aged 17 and older suffer with this debilitating illness. That’s over 7 percent of the entire U.S. population. But we’re more than numbers, more than mere statistics. We’re thinking, feeling, complex beings. And numbers don’t rule who we are or how we live.

As Marianne Williamson said, “Nothing binds you except your thoughts; nothing limits you except your fear; and nothing controls you like your beliefs.”

Does this mean getting out of depression is as simple as your belief system? Can you think your way out of being depressed? Well, not exactly.

Stepping back from being depressed can be done. We don’t automatically have to fall over the edge into a deep depression. Circumstances don’t have to drive us there. Sure, this may have been true in the past. But the past doesn’t have to rule the future.

THAT”S the first important thing to know. What’s come before doesn’t rule what’s to come.

One more thing. This blog site will be examining possibilities, outside the box type of ideas you may not have thought of but that could make a real difference for you. I’ll be writing more about this in upcoming blog posts. So be sure to come back to check this blog site out. And help spread the word. You’ll be glad you did.
